Biography

Dr. Michael Miranda has been in practice for over 17 years. He sees patients for shoulder and knee problems; complex fractures including pelvis and acetabulum, nonunions and malunions. He has extensive experience in osteotomies of the bone.

He attended medical school at the University of Connecticut where he also completed his 5 year residency in Orthopedic Surgery. He completed a one-year fellowship in Trauma in Pittsburgh where he helped care for the NHL Pittsburgh Penguins.  Dr. Miranda then completed other fellowships in both Switzerland and Germany.

His professional activities include acting as Director of Orthopedic Trauma at Hartford Hospital; Site Director for UConn residents at Hartford Hospital; Director of Community Development for AO North America; He is a Trustee for the AO , the worlds largest trauma organization. He has given over 140 lectures worldwide and authored numerous papers and book chapters. He has been recognized by the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons for his volunteer work educating US Armed Forces surgeons in trauma management.

His professional interests include practicing and teaching minimally invasive surgery; managing complex fractures as well as managing nonunions and malunions. His minimally invasive work includes arthroscopy of the shoulder and knee

He resides in Farmington with his wife and children.  He enjoys reading, exercising and collecting antique arms and armor.
