Dr. Gordon Zimmermann was born in Washington, D.C. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame and Georgetown University School of Medicine, then completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at the Mayo Clinic. Dr. Zimmermann was among the first surgeons to perform arthroscopic surgery in the state of Connecticut. He has been practicing orthopedics at Hartford and St. Francis hospitals for over 30 years, and has performed over ten thousand knee and shoulder arthroscopic procedures. He has been the president of Orthopedic Associates of Hartford (OAH) for the last decade. During his tenure, OAH has grown into one of the largest and most prestigious full service orthopedic groups in New England. He is the director and a founding member of the Orthopedic Associates Surgical Center, and a founding member of the Connecticut Joint Replacement Institute and the Glastonbury Surgical Center. In its most recent issue, Dr Zimmermann was recognized as one of the top Orthopedic Surgeons in the United States by US News and World Report. Dr. Zimmermann has also been recognized by his peers on many occasions as one of the top orthopedic doctors in our state in Connecticut Magazine and other publications.
Dr. Zimmermann resides in Farmington with his wife Kimberley, and has three grown daughters. His personal interests include golf, auto racing, tennis, and animal rescue.
