Dr. Andrew Caputo was born in Washington, D.C.. He graduated from Virginia Tech in 1987 and from the Medical College of Virginia in 1991. He did his orthopedic surgery residency at University of Connecticut Health Center, and then completed his Hand Surgery Fellowship at Duke University Medical Center in 1998. Since then, he has been with Orthopedic Associates of Hartford dedicating his practice to problems related to the hand, wrist and elbow. His specialty covers all aspects of surgery, including joint reconstruction/replacement, arthroscopy, trauma, congenital defects, and work related problems.
In addition to his private practice, Dr. Caputo teaches residents and fellows from the UConn Health Center, where he currently is a Clinical Associate Professor. Dr. Caputo has lectured nationally and internationally on numerous topics related to hand, wrist and elbow surgery, and has served as an executive committee member on several regional surgical societies. He has been named one of the “Top Docs” in Connecticut Magazine for many years. He is also a medical advisor for the Burton Snowboard Company in Burlington, VT.
Dr. Caputo currently resides in Avon with his wife Allyson and their two sons. He and his family are very active in creating and participating in numerous community charity events. His personal interests include endurance mountain biking, snowboarding, auto racing, kite-boarding and enjoying these activities with his family and friends.
